Peppy Little Blonde Peppy Little Blonde Peppy Little Blonde 2000 Palomino Mare

Peppy Little Blonde (Maggie) is a mare that I wanted before she was born. Neil and Louise Darroch owned her dam, the very lovely Amyable, in foal to Solanos Peppy San. When Maggie arrived, I had to have her. Her barn name, Maggie, comes from my late grandmother, Margaret Gent. Grandma Gent loved horses from a distance, and I think she would have been very pleased to see her namesake.

Maggie is very pretty, has excellent conformation with a particularly large hip, and is extremely mellow. Her fillies have all been very pretty; her one colt a more masculine version of the fillies. Her 2009 Einsteins Revolution filly is without a doubt the most laid-back foal I have ever had the pleasure of being around.

I started Maggie myself before she went to Shawna Sapergia as a two-year-old. Starting Maggie was easy - I saddled her, got on, and Maggie walked calmly where I asked her to go. This mare has a good, sensible brain, and she passes it on to her foals.

Mellow but mightly in the show pen, and awesome on cattle. Shawna Sapergia showed Maggie as a three-year-old, and spent quite a bit of time working cattle with her as well. In Shawna's opinion, Maggie probably would have made a better cow horse than a reiner, but we never managed to show her in working cow horse. Shauna Getz took over the reins for Maggie's four-year-old year, and ended up qualifying her for the AQHA World Show. Maggie placed and won money every time she was shown. I've even thrown a rope off her and used her to round up cattle; she does the work of about four lazy geldings!
