Socks is a beautiful mare, both to look at and to ride. Every foal she has produced has had her dished profile, big kind eye, long neck, good wither, deep heart girth, and massive hip. Mentally, Socks babies are easy to train, willing and eager to work, and a pleasure to be around. I am especially proud of a 2005 filly, To Chexy For My Sox (by Chex That Out), currently being ridden by trainer Vicki Braun, and a 2007 stallion, Dillon Dun Good JB (by Matt Dillon Dun It), owned by Wunderbar Arabians. Wunderbar will be standing Dillon in 2010, and will be sending him to a professional trainer - stay tuned for details.
Recently, I began teaching my friend Al and his son Kane to ride. Kane is especially nervous around horses, so I decided Socks would be the best teacher, even though she hadn't been ridden in over four years. Kane wasn't convinced. To demonstrate that Socks was a horse that could be trusted, I went out to the pasture, retrieved Socks with her new Einsteins Revolution filly at her side, put a headstall on her, and got on bareback. We walked, jogged, loped, stopped, backed up, did some spins, all on a loose rein, and all as if Socks had just walked out of the show pen. Al decided he wanted to give Socks a try, so up he went. And, Socks was just the type of horse he could trust.
